Weather Closings and Delays
Student safety is a primary goal of the school district. At all times, weather conditions are monitored to ensure that students can be safely delivered to schools and returned home. Parents are strongly encouraged to make arrangements for the welfare of their children due to school closings or delays.
Students’ parents will receive a phone call from the school informing them when classes are cancelled. Parents are encouraged to check for school cancellations due to weather on the local TV channels. In case there is a snow day, classes will be made up at the end of the year for up to five snow days.
Parents must ensure that their children are appropriately dressed for weather conditions. During the winter, make sure that students have appropriate winter clothes, including a jacket, mittens, and appropriate shoes to protect the child from the elements. Sunscreen is important during field days in the spring.
Schools can be cancelled, delayed, or dismissed due to hazardous road conditions, heavy snow, and wind chills.
